Ep. 68 | Healing & Community Through the Lens of Music with Lora Branch
Lora Branch was a rising DJ and community activist working in HIV/AIDS education when she became Dr. Avanti’s mentor 30 years ago in Chicago. Now, she’s on the show to kick off November’s monthly intention of “connection with others as medicine” through the lens of music. You’ll hear Lora’s start in the scene as one of the original DJs at the infamous “warehouse” in Chicago where House music was born. She unpacks how House music differs from other genres, and dives into music as a language that connects people and has the power to heal. As we get a look inside the mind of a DJ, we truly see the power of music for healing and connection to others.
